The two towers castle was inspired by the architecture of the Royal Ontario Museum, which possesses a historical architecture reflected in the arms. The three open books represents the Friends of the Medieval Studies Society's work with the study, research and promotion of medieval history spanning not only Europe but Near Eastern regions which were influenced by the West with the arrival of the Knights Templars. The ancient crown was selected to represent the "Royal" in the name of the museum, and extending from the crown, the armoured arm grasping the sword was inspired by the work the FMSS has been doing with the Academy of European Medieval Martial Arts. |
